ان تكوني فتاة عربية تدرس أو تعمل كمصممة جرافيك ليس بالأمر السهل، خاصة إذا كان لديك والدان بمعتقدات من الطراز القديم. نشأت في عمل اعمال فنيه والحرف اليدوية وكنت أعرف أنني لن أتمكن من دراسة أي شيء آخر غير التصميم. درست التصميم الجرافيك ووجدت نفسي أثناء الدراسة لأني توصلت إلى فهم مبادئ التصميم، مثل استخدام العمق، نظرية اللون، الحجم، الوحدة، الاستمرار وما إلى ذلك.
تعلمت أن الاهتمام بالتفاصيل كان أحد أهم الأمور في التصميم وما يجعل المصمم فريداً لأن العديد من المصممين يستطيعون تصميم الأشكال وتجميلها بالألوان الزاهية ولكن ليس كل المصممين يستطيعون صنع قصة جيدة وراء شكل معين والاهتمام بكيفية تم تصميم المشروع الى ادق التفاصيل.
بصفتك مستقلاً، يجب أن تعرف كيف تستمع إلى عميلك وتفهمه جيداً. واجعله يثق بك وبقراراتك. إنهم يوظفونك لمساعدتهم في الوصول إلى هدف فلا تجعل حياتهم أكثر صعوبة. توفير الكثير من الخيارات تجعل عميلك يشعر بالضياع وعدم طرح اي خيارات تشير بانك لم تقوم بعمل جيد. كن صبوراً وقم بإجراء 3 خيارات مختلفة للتصميم وأقنع العميل بأحد التصاميم ولماذا تعتقد أنه يخدم مشروعه على أفضل وجه ممكن.
تعلمة بالتجربة والإخفاقات أنه لا تعمل أبدًا بالمجان، ودائماً خذ لو حتى الحد الأدنى من المبلغ لا تضيع تعبك وعملك. إذا واصنع عقداً بينك وبين الطرف الآخر، ليس من الصعب عمل عقود اليوم حيث يوجد العديد من العقود معروضة عبر الإنترنت. تأكد من توفير 7 أشياء بشكل واضح في عقدك: اسمك، اسم العميل، معلومات المشروع، المدة المتفق عليها للمشروع، مبلغ الدفع وكلا التواقيع.
في النهاية، لا شيء مستحيل ويحتاج الشخص إلى المحاولة وفشل ليتعلم. وبغض النظر عن العقبات التي تحدث في طريقك ستمر لأن النتيجة ستكون تستحق العناء في النهاية.
Bring an Arab girl studying or working as a graphic designer is not easy, especially if you have old fashioned parents. I grew up loving crafts and arts and I knew I wouldn’t be able to study anything else other than design. I studied graphic design and found myself while studying because I got to understand design principles, like white space, color theory, scale, unity, continuation and so forth.
I learned that paying attention to details was one of the most important things in design and what makes a designer unique because many designers can create shapes and paint them but not all designers can make a good story behind a shape and pay attention to how the design is executed.
As a freelancer, you should know how to listen and understand your client well. And make him/her trust you and your decisions. They hire you to help them reach a goal not to make their life harder. Providing too much options make your client feel lost and no options as you’re not doing a good job. Be patience and make 3 different options of the design and convince the client about one of the designs and why you think it serves his project the best.
Another thing that I learned from trials and failures is that never do work for free, always take a minimum amount if your starting up and have a contract between you and the second party. Making a contract is not so hard as today there are many templet contracts online make sure that 7 things are clearly provided: your name, clients name, the project info, duration, payment amount and both signatures.
In the end, nothing is impossible and a person needs to try and fail to learn. And no matter what the obstacles happening on your way keep going because in the end the result will be worth it.
